Highlights Bavarian Mountains Tour

The Bavarian Mountains Tour departs from the Panorama Tours Bus Terminal at Mirabell Square in city center of Salzburg. The drive to the Königssee takes about 50 minutes. Passing by the Baroque historic city center of Salzburg along the river Salzach, the route leads towards the border to Germany and into the Bavarian Alps. Following another river, the Königsseeache, the journey passes the Marktschellenberg, the Obersalzberg and the stunning scenery of the Bavarian mountains & the Berchtesgaden National Park, before reaching the Königssee.

Königssee – King’s Lake

The Königssee is embedded in steeply rising mountains from all sides. The most famous of these peaks is the legendary Watzmann. Explore the shore of the lake and the spectacular views or stroll through the picturesque lakeside village with the same name Königssee. You will have around 50 minutes to spend here. Children also have fun here on the lakeshore!

Our Panorama Tours Tip: Take a walk along the northern shore of the King’s Lake to the Malerwinkel to reach a lookout point providing one of the most beautiful views of the lake.

Berchtesgaden

The second stop on this tour is in the picturesque mountain town of Berchtesgaden. Explore the town in front of the spectacular alpine panorama, enjoy coffee and cake (consumption not included in price) and see the Bavarian lifestyle firsthand. The stay in Berchtesgaden is around 50 minutes. Small stores sell dirndls, lederhosen and other handicrafts that are firmly anchored in the customs of the Alps.

Can you take a boat tour on the Königssee?

A boat tour on the Königssee is not possible as part of the Bavarian Mountains Tour due to time constraints. You can however get equally spectacular views by taking a walk along the northern shore of the Königssee to the Malerwinkel.

When does the Bavarian Mountains Tour run?

The Bavarian Mountains Tour is operated daily, starts at 2.00 pm at the Salzburg Panorama Tours Bus Terminal at Mirabell Square and is about 4 hours long.
