From the Family Whose Story Inspired The Sound Of Music

Hello, my name is Elisabeth von Trapp. Yes, I’m from that von Trapp family. I am the granddaughter of Captain Georg and Maria von Trapp, whose life story was the inspiration for “The Sound of Music.”

Come take a walk with me through Salzburg this summer and let me introduce you to the real von Trapp family and reveal how their music and legacy became immortalized on stage and film.

I am a Certified Austrian Tour Guide and I like nothing better than showing guests the sights and sounds of Salzburg, the city of music. It is a city of exquisite charm with its narrow streets, medieval walkways, giant fountains, tiny pastry shops, catacombs, fresh baked bread, and traditional Austrian chocolate.

During our time together we’ll visit “The Sound of Music” film sites and experience the magnificent baroque architecture and the incomparable acoustical spaces of Salzburg, the city that my family called home.

Over the years I have lived, studied, and performed in Salzburg, immersing myself in the cultural experiences of this charming city. As a proud dual Austrian-American citizen, I look forward to sharing with you a few of my favorite jewels of Salzburg.

Oh yes, one last thing: while dancing and singing during the tour is not required, it is strongly encouraged and might even be rewarded with a Mozartkugel.
