Nicholas Hammond played the role of Friedrich von Trapp in The Sound of Music

Early life and career

Nicholas Hammond was born on 15 May 1950 in Washington D.C. Hammond's father was an officer in the US Army, his mother a British actress. 

Hammond debuted his acting on screen when he was 13 years old in The Lord of the Flies (1963). His next notable role was Friedrich von Trapp in The Sound of Music (1965).

Throughout the 1970s, Hammond acted in several movies and TV shows. He is perhaps best known for his role as Spider-Man in the TV Show The Amazing Spider-Man, running from 1977 to 1979. Throughout the following decades, Hammond continued to take many major and minor film and television roles, including parts in Hawaii Five-O, Dallas, and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood (2019)

 

Personal life

Nicholas Hammond first got married in 1980, followed by a divorce in 1984. After a move to Australia, he met actress Robyn Nevin, who he married in 1987. Hammond remained close friends with many of the former The Sound of Music actors.
