Heather Menzies played Louisa von Trapp in The Sound of Music, one of her first appearances on screen
Heather Menzies was born in Toronto on 3 December 1949 to Scottish parents who had moved to Canada after World War 2. The family moved around a lot and by the age of 14, Heather had lived in Vancouver, Miami, London and California.
Heather's first appearance on screen was in 1964 in the TV show The Farmer's Daughter. Without any other experience in acting, she was cast as Louisa in The Sound of Music.
After The Sound of Music, Heather continued acting in movies such as Hawaii, Piranha, SSSSSSS, and How Sweet it Is. She played Jessica in the television version of Logan's Run and guest starred in many television shows and television movies.
Heather starred on Broadway with Shirley Knight in "We Always Lived in a Castle" and with Robert Urich, her husband for 28 years, in "Hasty Heart" at the Kennedy Center. Heather has three adopted children - Ryan, Emily, and Allison..
Later in life, Heather was a producer and part time actress, also working tirelessly for the Robert Urich Cancer Foundation which she founded with her late husband.
Heather Menzies passed away on 24 December, 2017 at the age of 68.
