Salzburg Panorama Tours mourns the loss of Heather Menzies-Urich
We are very saddened to announce that Heather Menzies-Urich passed away at the age of 68 years on Christmas Eve. Our sympathy goes to Heather Menzies-Urich family and friends.
In 1964 she played Louisa von Trapp – the third oldest of the Von Trapp Children in Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein musical film version of "The Sound of Music".
Born in Toronto, Canada, she just turned 15 at the release of The Sound of Music, featuring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer in the lead roles – becoming a fixture on Christmas TV in great parts of the World over the past decades.
We will always remember Heather Menzies-Urich as part of the world famous Sound of Music family singing along with her film siblings such legendary tunes as Do-Re-Mi and So Long, Farewell.
Ted Chaplin from the agency Rodgers and Hammerstein:
"Heather was part of ‘the family.’ There is really no other way to describe the members of the cast of the movie of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. And of ‘the kids,’ Heather was a cheerful and positive member of the group, always hoping for the next gathering. We are all lucky to have known her, and she will happily live on in that beautiful movie. We will miss her."
