Reunion 2010
The seven movie children in Salzburg
Ten Oscar nominations, five of which awarded in 1965 and for decades the most popular film in history: Today the Sound of Music still fills millions of people with enthusiasm and for 70% of the tourists from the USA and the Far East it is the main reason to visit Salzburg.
As well as Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, who played captain Georg von Trapp and his second wife Maria Augusta, seven children also enjoyed great success with the public. Unforgettable: "Gretl" Kym Karatth, "Martha" Debbie Turner, "Brigitta" Angela Cartwright, "Kurt" Duane Chase, "Louisa" Heather Menzies, "Friedrich" Nicholas Hammond and "Liesl" Charmian Carr - at that time "sixteen goin' on seventeen". These seven children, meanwhile in the prime of their lives, returned to Salzburg from 31st October through to 7th November 2000.
A British film crew of "Tyne Tees Television" recorded a documentary about the cinema success and its stars. Songs such as "The Hills are Alive" were recorded again, and scenes at the original locations were played again. The documentary "After they were famous" reported on the life stories of the seven former child actors and on their experiences and impressions during the filming in Salzburg all those years ago as well as its effects on their lives.
25th Anniversary Life Ball 2018
Theme: The Sound of Music
This year's Life Ball is entirely based on the motto of the classic film "The Sound of Music", which was shot in Salzburg in 1964 and is one of the most watched films in the world.
For the anniversary celebration of the 25th Life Ball, which takes place on 2 June in Vienna City Hall, many celebrities slipped into the role of the Trapp family for the creation of the current Style Bible, including singer Conchita as Fräulein Maria.
Organizer Gery Keszler about the chosen topic: "With the interpretation of key scenes, we immerse ourselves in Austria's history, culture, habits and clichés. The most important social values such as diversity, tolerance and sensitivity also play a key role here.”
The current Style Bible was unveiled on the 26.01.2018 in the castle Leopoldskron. The crew was brought from Vienna to Salzburg for the occasion with the Original Sound of Music Bus organized by Salzburg Panorama Tours.
The photo gallery of the Style Bible shows striking scenes from the 1965 film with elaborate costumes by ART that were newly reinterpreted. Markus Morianz photographed at the original locations in and around Salzburg. Death and life are also central themes in the Style Bible 2018. For the death theme, the Salzburg Festival provided the costumes of every man.
